Comments: Don, I just want to say THANK YOU for setting up this web page. I have been monitoring it for a couple of years since Curt McKinley told me about it. Since that time I have made contact with several old shipmates. When the page moved to a new host, I lost the address and have not been here in quite a while. While looking for the page I found a pointer to Mr. Ginman. Remember the young Ensign supply officer in 72, well he is a RADM now. God I feel old. Now for some other news.

Joe Cooper

Dates: 11/71-11/74

Comments: A Gang second WesPac

Fair Winds and Following Seas:  Joe Cooper passed away on 7/22/2003.  It was a great loss not only to his friends but also the world.  He will be missed greatly.   I think Joe was the only one on the first 2 westpack that knew how to run the O2 generator.   - Bill Mager

Tom Coyle

Comments: Met some of the greatest people in the world on board the Puffer.

Most Inspirational Momemt: Chief McGrath watching me scrub the deck during a field day and commenting that in time I would know to use just the "right amount of cleanser" to get the floor the cleanest without leaving residue.

I knew then I was never going to re-enlist.

Have contacted Bob Stump through this site. Would love to hear from Reude Rule.

Keep up the good work!!

Comments: ALOHA. Presently I manage the St. Marys Submarine Museum, located in St. Marys, GA. Kings Bay Submarine Base, boomer base, is next door to us. No I'm still a fast attack sailor, and never rode a boomer. Being a collector of submarine stuff, I've collected the Puffer, SSN-652, Ships Bell, ding-ding, and one of the Sail Name Boards. Both displayed for ever here in our museum. Looking for other impressive Puffer, SSN & SS, Items. If traveling down I-95 through Georgia, get off at Exit 2, fo east about 10 miles till the road ends at the St. Marys River. Turn right and park the car. We are the 2nd building on your right, we also are the only building with a periscope sticking out the roof. Just e-mail for times or better directions.

While on Puffer I was M-Div LCPO & Command Career Counselor. Reported onboard as MMC-SS & left as MMCS-SS for duty at CSS-1 Staff. Some one had to keep Master Chief Lathrop squared away.

John

Call 912-882-ASUB(2782) if you want to hear the ships bell.

Comments: Want to thank the Puffer Reunion crew for the $140+ donation to the museum. The Puffer Crew is now a posted sponsor to the museum. Enjoy reading the comments from the ex crew members. CSL was at the base & I got to talk to him. He's ex-Puffer to. Told him about the Ships Bell & Name board here in the museum. His next visit to Kings Bay will include a trip to the museum. I'll let him know about the page.
