Comments: It's been a long time since I've heard any of these names. I have thought about many of the people and their families since I left the Puffer, especially Turtle, Bruce Avery, Greg Gaskin, Joe Ada, and Louis Tellez. This wab site brought back lots of memories, both good and bad.

Comments: The USS Puffer (SSN652) was the first boat that I rode. I eventually rode the USS Gurnard (2x),USS Aspro (2x) and the USS Haddo.
Comments: Road the Puffer after picking her up in Subic Bay on the tail end of West Pac deployment. Have a color 8x10 of Puffer transiting Pearl Harbor channel signed by H.W. Habermeyer C.O. at that time hanging in my office. I really enjoyed all the info that is on your site.

Comments: I just turned 18 when I got to the Puffer. I did a lot growing up on that boat! Some of my fondest memories are sliding from crews mess to the head on potato sacks during emergency dives, or putting a drop of soap under LcdrSampson's ice cream so he would get the runs, and then blowing the toilet on him! I also enjoyed the art of making jungle juice for late night poker games! Anyone ever hear from Jack Arlaskaus?

Comments: Now that my tour aboard PUFFER is over, I can look back and really appreciate the great memories. Here are just a few I remember; "surprise ORSE message April fools day 94"--- thanks Radiomen and COMMO, all those ANGLES and DANGLES, "Dance of the Flaming Assholes" at the Horse & Cow in Alameda, and dressing as pirates when we pulled into Guam on our final WESTPAC. Hey, did the producers of "DOWN PERISCOPE" get the pirate idea from us? I remember Kelsey Grammer toured our boat in FEB 95, doing research for the movie. I think Kelsey summed it up best when he said he was most impressed with the "pride and camaraderie of the submarine sailors." As former PUFFER sailors, I know we can all relate to this idea. And remember, it's not Navy, it's the people in the Navy that create our most fond memories.
Thank you to all of you that I served with on the Puffer!! Also, to Don for creating this web site.
