Comments: I have a lot of good memories from the time I spent on board the Puffer. I am still in contact with some of the guys and would like to touch base with some of the people that I have lost contact with since I got out of the Navy. I am the Vice President of Engineering for Skee Ball, Inc., and in this position I do a lot of traveling. So I would like to be able to look up some of my old friends when I am in their city. I still live in Philly but also spend a lot of time in Phoenix, Chicago, and Vegas.

Message: Love the site; I served on the Puffer from January 1995 - November 1977. It was a great boat, with a great crew. I have some wonderful memories.
One still stands out, some of us spent a whole night drinking at the Subic Air Base bowling ally with a bunch of airman. Got back on the boat before muster, don't know how. Next thing I remember is sobering up as the last man on a morning loading detail. Must have put 100 of those damn 35 pound tins of flower and sugar in that little storeroom.
Would love to track down a few of the old shipmates, sonar-man Mike Jones, Cook/Mess Manager Rick Tommie, Joe Soladucha (sp?) or other from the crew I served with.
Update my Email address. I have recently moved back to North Dakota. Take care all.

Comments: I had just got back from a 9 month deployment from WESTPAC and about 6 days later I was sent TAD to PUFFER as the Yeoman at that time was under investigation. We crossed the equator and I believe there were only about 6 of us on board that were Shell Backs (I was a Golden Shellback). The short time I was on board, I had a really good time. CDR Habermeyer was the CO and he was even a polywog.

Comments: It was really great coming across this page, I went on to recruit in Kansas, the airplane capitol of the world. But anyway retired remarried and moved back home to Texas, and work in insurance no I don't sell it, claims adjuster. The pictures bring back the best mem's..sometimes I really miss those days, and just want to chunck it and get back out on the open seas. Good Sailing and Gods Speed.

Comments: Many fond memories. Some embarrassing ones as well. Too many great guys to name. You know who you are. I went to White House Communications after Puffer. Rubbed elbows with Clinton. The pay wasn't worth the politics, so I promoted myself to civilian. I am now a project manager. My wife and I live in Maryland.
Drop me a note anytime. I'd love to hear from my old buds. (Jeff, what time is it?)
