Comments: I never served aboard PUFFER, but I did serve under Captain John M. Will, Jr. aboard USS CANOPUS AS-34 in Rota, Spain. Captain Will was one of the few "true leaders" I have had the pleasure to meet in my lifetime. I was saddened to read of his passing in the comments from Eric Will in the PUFFER guest log. As a "tender sailor," I have a great respect for those who wear the dolphins. Best wishes to you all and please pass on my rememberances of Captain Will at your next reunion. Fair winds and following seas.

Comments: This is a great page! I served as an OTA from 1988-1992 and was stationed on Ford Island. Both the SS and SSN of the USS Puffer have always interested me so this page comes in really handy for any research I need to do.
Thanks and keep up the great work,
OTA2 Richard Puffer

Comments: Great website. I was on the Tautog in Pearl from 81 to 85. The Puffer was a hot runner. I feel proud that a part of the Tautog was onboard you guys when you deployed (thanks to ET2(SS)Ferguson for cannabilizing my WLR-6 receivers!) Best of luck ... fair winds.

Comments: Regret never being in the Silent Service, but had the special privilege to visit SSN-652 once at NAS Alameda. Puffer was having an open house along side San Francisco SSN-711 during 'Navy week'. Was it October 92 or 93? First time I ever visited an active SSN. A special memory I will always charish. Take care.

Comments: Hello all,
I met a member of Puffers crew at a model warship meeting near my city. His name was Duane Curtis, he was on one of the last crews before decom...so early 90's. He sold me a 1/96 scale Radio Controlled model...which I intend to build as USS Puffer. I will be glad to send pictures to the site if you all would like to see your boat today. If anyone would like to contact me about my sub, or would like to share experiences or details feel free to email me.
Thanks,
Eric
